Kent wants parkways on High Speed 1

Kent County Council has called for new parkway stations to be built on the Channel Tunnel Rail Link.

The council wants stations built at Maidstone, Thanet (to serve Kent International Airport at Manston), Westenhanger and Appledore. The proposals are outlined in a draft transport strategy – Growth without gridlock.

Kent also plans to lobby the Government to create a Kent Passenger Transport Authority.
