Use LEDs in traffic signals to cut CO2'
Converting the UK's traffic signals to operate using light emitting diodes (LEDs) rather than incandescent light bulbs could save thousands of tonnes of carbon dioxide, according to a new report by the UK Energy Research Centre. The Centre says LED signal heads would cost about £600-£700 compared to traditional signal heads costing £150. It therefore suggests the Government establishes a fund to encourage their conversion....
