Transport CO2 emissions grow

Carbon dioxide emissions from the UK road transport sector are set to grow by 9% between 2000 and 2010, according to the Government's review of the UK Climate Change Programme.

The consultation document notes that as emissions from other sectors are forecast to fall in the same period, transport's share of total emissions is likely to rise. In 2002, transport accounted for about 24% of UK greenhouse gas emissions.
