Crossrail Bill reaches Parliament but funding remains unresolved

Funding the £10bn Crossrail scheme remained unresolved as the Hybrid Bill enabling construction of the cross-London line entered Parliament last week.

Transport secretary Alistair Darling told the Commons that Crossrail was justified because it would generate nearly twice as many benefits as it would cost and improve rail access to and within London.
