Bristol's car club is helping to cut car trips and promote alternative modes

We felt your article on car sharing and car clubs ('Overcoming the barriers: how to steer car sharing schemes into a successful future' News Extra LTT 17 Feb) made it sound as though there was little evidence of the benefits of car clubs on wider transport objectives, such as encouraging mode shift and reducing parking problems.

The evidence from the growing Bristol City Car Club show that it is clearly making a difference. It shows that at least 40% of its 180 members give up or defer buying...
