Money troubles force ECT to sell-off railway interests
Uncertainty surrounds the future of two community-based rail operations in England following this week's announcement that social enterprise company the ECT Group is pulling out of the railway business.
ECT Group operates the Dartmoor railway linking Crediton and Okehampton in Devon and the Weardale railway between Stanhope and Wolsingham in County Durham. Both are primarily tourist lines and have been developed with the support of local communities and local councils.
