Tories pledge to scrap road charging condition on TIF funds
A Conservative Government would scrap the requirement that local authorities must introduce congestion charging in order to access funding from the demand management stream of the Transport Innovation Fund.
The Tories made the pledge in a new policy briefing paper published ahead of this week's local elections. In it they say they will use the £200m per annum TIF to fund a range of transport projects that reduce reliance on the private car.
