Transport in new legislative plans
Transport policy will be affected by two pieces of legislation in the Government's 2008/09 programme that has just been unveiled. The Business Rate Supplements Bill covering England and Wales will give upper tier local authorities (in London, the Greater London Authority) the power to levy a supplement on the business rate and to retain the proceeds for economic development-related investment, such as transport schemes.
