Accessibility models 'miss out experiences of elderly'

The Government should develop guidance to ensure that transport planners take into account the needs of the elderly, according to a new study.

"Street and transport design needs to be more inclusive by taking into account older people's needs," says the report for the Strategic Promotion of Ageing Research Capacity (SPARC).

"A community-led approach to transport planning is likely to be more revealing and successful than one led by accessibility planning software tools,"...
