Pedestrian and cyclist deaths up in London

Pedestrian and cyclist fatalities on London’s streets both increased last year but the total number of people killed and seriously injured on the capital’s streets fell 3% to the lowest recorded level since records began in the mid-1980s.

A 2% rise in slight casualties meant that overall reported casualties in the capital in 2011 were 1% higher than 2010.

Total fatalities rose 26% from 126 to 159. Pedal cyclist fatalities rose from ten to 16 and there was a 21% rise in cyclists...
