Defra reviews air quality plans after EU rejects time extensions
The European Commission has rejected the UK Government’s applications for time extensions to comply with nitrogen dioxide limit values in 12 zones.
The news comes as the Commission reveled that it is to begin infringement proceedings for a further 16 zones where the UK says the limit values cannot be met even within the maximum limit set for time extensions.
Member states were supposed to comply with the European nitrogen dioxide limit values by January 2010 but could apply for a time...
