80 must mean 80 if motorway speed limit rises, says Penning
Motorists should not expect to be able to drive at 90mph if the Government increases the motorway speed limit to 80mph, roads minister Mike Penning has told MPs.
Proposals to raise the speed limit on some sections of motorway to 80mph will feature in a consultation paper to be published later this year.
Some road safety campaigners believe raising the speed limit to 80mph could encourage motorists to drive at 90mph.
