Localism powers receive Queen’s seal of approval
A wide range of new powers with implications for transport will come into being in England over the coming months following Royal Assent for the Government’s Localism Bill.
Changes the Localism Act 2011 will introduce include:
a general power of competence, giving councils the legal capacity to do anything that an individual can do that is not specifically prohibited. This power has also been given to ITAs and PTEs.
