Rail industry studies WCML after HS2
The rail industry is setting up a group to explore what use should be made of spare capacity on the southern end of the West Coast Main Line if a new high-speed line is built from London to the West Midlands. The group will be led by Passenger Focus and Network Rail. The DfT says an extra 11 trains an hour could be operated.
