HS2 fuels Crossrail 2 business case
This map of Crossrail 2 appears in Network Rails draft route utilisation strategy for London and the South East published this month.Plans for a new cross-London rail line – Crossrail 2 – will be redrawn if the Government goes ahead with plans for a high-speed rail terminal at Euston.
The Secretary of State safeguarded an alignment for the line – also known as the Chelsea-Hackney line – in June 2008 (LTT 25 Jul 08). Stations in central London are identified at Victoria, Piccadilly Circus, Tottenham Court Road and Kings Cross.
But TfL said this week the route would be redrawn if Euston is selected as...

As a Southerner gone North, I would say that the South-East has received more than its fair share of transport investment in recent years. Now that the Olympics is done and dusted it's time to address the neglect of regional transport services. Sheffield where I live for example would benefit from a Crossrail service that would cost far less to implement than Snaresbrook to Wimbledon. (personal view)
