Public inquiry called on Humber toll rise

The DfT has ordered a public inquiry into a proposal to increase tolls on the Humber Bridge. The Humber Bridge Board’s proposal would see tolls for cars rise from £2.70 to £3 and tolls for the heaviest lorries rise from £18.30 to £20.30. The tolls, which are needed to fund maintenance and pay off the bridge debt, were last increased in 2006. The Labour Government last year refused a rise in tolls.
