US-style yellow school buses could cut walking and cycling, warns DfT
A nationwide roll-out of US-style yellow school buses would represent poor value for money and risks leading to fewer children walking or cycling to school, according to the DfT.
The Department’s sceptical views are contained in a response to the yellow school bus commission – set up by First Group and chaired by former home secretary David Blunkett – that called for a nationwide roll-out of services for primary schools (LTT 19 Sep 08).
