Sustrans claims travel town success

Research conducted by the environmental lobby group Sustrans claims that car use has fallen dramatically in the three towns (Darlington, Peterborough and Worcester) that took part in the £10m DfT-funded sustainable travel demonstration towns project between 2004 and 2008. “At the end of the five-year project, car use had fallen by up to 9% across the three towns,” Sustrans says.
