Australia shows the problems with making cycle helmets mandatory

As a researcher on cycle helmets, I produced a detailed assessment of the mandatory helmet laws in Australia for Civil Liberties Australia. The assessment was based on seven main areas: level of cycling activity; fatalities; injuries; health; environment; accident compensation; and law enforcement. The outcome was negative on six counts; therefore, helmet laws are not justified.
