DCLG’s new homes code promotes cycle storage and home working

The provision of cycle storage facilities and a room for home working will help new homes gain a higher rating under a new environmental coding scheme introduced by the Government.

The code for sustainable homes rates homes on a scale from 1 to 6, where 6 represents the highest environmental standards (a nil-rated certificate is issued for homes failing to meet level 1). Final technical guidance on the code was published last week by the Department for Communities and Local Government.
