Europe doesn't provide a template for the UK's transport system

Reading Professor Whitelegg's comments on the state of Britain's transport left me to wonder how much he actually uses public transport in this country, as opposed to his obvious preference for just about anywhere else in the world ('Whitelegg's many hats can't hide his disdain for Britain's transport' LTT?27 Jun).
