First it was bike hire - now Paris plans electric car hire
The mayor of Paris has announced that the city is to launch a 'turn up and go' hire scheme for electric cars similar to the Velib bicycle hire scheme that has been operating since July last year (LTT 7 Mar).
According to Bertrand Delanoe, who was re-elected as mayor of Paris in May, some 4,000 electric vehicles will be distributed at approximately 700 locations across Paris by late 2009, although a contract to supply the vehicles and associated infrastructure has yet to be awarded and tariff...
