This masterclass is for local authorities planning or working with shared transport schemes – from bike share to car clubs, demand responsive transport to micro mobility. Shared transport innovations provide new opportunities for integrating urban and rural mobility options into wider transport plans. Car-sharing, bike-sharing, ride-sharing, Demand Responsive Transit, micro transit and micro mobility can offer first and last mile solutions and provide transport services that are simply not viable using traditional public transport models.

#sharedtransport

The primary objective of the Shared Transport Masterclass is to bring together local authority planners and decision-makers with entrepreneurs and operators across the shared transport sector and to create a toolkit for successfully embedding shared transport schemes in transport strategy.

Shared mobility services also offer key benefits to towns and cities: cutting congestion, improving air quality, keeping fares low and encouraging active travel. Technology has made shared modes, combined with public transport, a viable alternative to private car use. Shared modes are now cheaper, easier and more efficient at every stage, including journey planning, sourcing a transport option, booking, paying, sharing journey information and saving receipts. New shared mobility operators are coming to market all the time.

This event follows the highly successful Bike Share Masterclass that was organised in January 2018 in partnership with Department for Transport. Opportunities are now available to speak, sponsor and exhibit at this event.
