Developing teams that deliver service

Local authority teams from across the North of England and beyond will be coverging on Newcastle Civic Centre's awe-inspiring Banqueting Hall for a day of topical debates and networking. The 2nd North East Parking Show provides a forum in which issues such as traffic management, clean air zones, event management, parking payment trends and career development will be discussed.

The event will also let parking management teams meet leading technology and service suppliers, who will have an opportunity to showcase their latest products and ideas. We look forward to meeting you and your colleagues at this must-attend event.

Our hosts

Newcastle City Council has a clear vision and ambition for the future. It wants to deliver a long-term vision of transforming the heart of the city into a greener place, to support Newcastle’s drive towards Net Zero, and create a place its residents can continue to be proud of.

Local authorities across the North East share Newcastle’s desire to decarbonise transport, improve air quality and enhance accessibility, thus supporting local communities, businesses and economies. These ambitions will be showcased at the North East Parking Show 2023.

The event will take place in the impressive Banqueting Suite at Newcastle Civic Centre. Delegates will hear about new developments and approaches to managing parking, and also get hands-on access to new technologies and systems.

Keynote: Embracing new technologies
The parking sector has always been open to adopting and developing new technologies for payment, enforcement, data sharing and the provision of electric vehicle infrastructure. Via initiatives such as APDS and the National Parking Platform, and its work with the DfT and other key organisations, the British Parking Association is playing a key role in developing the standards for their implementation and sharing best practice on their use.

The parking sector is populated by great people who are committed to delivering a professional traffic, kerbside and destination management service that benefits the communities and economies of towns and cities. But not many people set out with the aim of a having career in parking. What can be done to make parking a career of choice?

Keynote: Parking... a career of choice
Managing parking is often seen as a challenging job. But it is also rewarding one for many people working in the sector. Anjna Patel will discuss how her personal career path and the work that is being done within the sector to both improve current working conditions and to develop approaches that encourage more people to build a career in the sector. She will set out work that the BPA is doing in providing support networks, access to best practice mentoring and formal qualifications.
