The Park Cardiff app draws information from around 3,300 parking bay sensors

An app that helps drivers find available parking spaces has gone live in Cardiff. City of Cardiff Council has installed 3,300 sensors in paid and disabled parking bays. The vehicle detection sensors are embedded into the road and detect whether or not the parking bay is occupied using infrared technology. The sensors provide the occupancy data that is relayed to drivers via the Park Cardiff app.

The app and sensor system has been developed and installed by Smart Parking.
