Councils make £2.9m from dropped kerbs applications, says Direct Line

There has been dramatic growth in the number of UK residents applying for kerbs to be lowered in order to allow vehicles to access their property. 

The research by Direct Line Insurance Group shows that nearly 30,000 dropped kerb applications were approved in 2015. The insurance company said that this has generated almost £3m for councils from application fees in 2015, up almost 68% compared with 2013.
