A design competition is underway for the refurbishment and reinvention of Preston’s iconic bus station as a youth centre. Lancashire County Council has appointed the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) to administer the competition.
The bus station and car park, which was completed in 1969, was reprieved when architecture minister Ed Vaizey listed it in 2013 after a long campaign to save it from demolition.
