Half of Brighton & Hove’s on-street parking machines are to be removed as the city switches to paying by phone or in shops. The council is urging drivers to register online now to join the PayByPhone mobile phone payment service, or at 150 PayPoint outlets in the city.
The council estimates the move will save £250,000 a year in maintenance and cash collection.
