Westminster to crack down on engine idling

Motorists in Westminster that leave their engine running while their vehicle is stationary will risk getting on-the-spot fines from May. Traffic marshals will approach drivers who are idling while stationary and ask them to turn off their engines. Those that refuse will be issued with a £20 fixed penalty notice (FPN), said Westminster City Council.

Most complaints from the public about engine idling concern taxis and coaches, said a Westminster spokeswoman.
