DCLG launches off-street parking consultation

The government is looking at whether or not private parking companies should be banned from setting excessive charges for overstaying in parking bays. It is also considering the amount and type of data that the DVLA should be allowed to sell to private firms.

The Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) launched the consultation on tackling what it calls “unfair practices” in the off-street parking sector within days of gaining control of this policy area.
