Islington became the first London borough to enforce 20mph restrictions. Last November the Metropolitan Police and council enforcement officers also started conducting ‘stop and advise’ operations at collision hotspots. 

For the past six months the Metropolitan Police has been issuing £100 fines to motorists captured on speed guns exceeding 24mph in the north London borough. Drivers caught speeding also receive three points on their licences. Islington Council introduced...
