The short list for the British Parking Awards 2015 has been published. The winners of the annual competition will be revealed by Ade Adepitan, the Paralympic wheelchair basketball player and TV presenter, at the Lancaster Hotel in London on Friday 6 March.

The awards, which have been organised by Parking Review since 2002, recognise excellence and achievement in the parking sector.

The competition encompasses many aspects of the parking sector, with categories for buildings, technology, customer service, teams and individuals.

There are also categories that recognise work with the wider community projects, parking initiatives that have a positive environmental impact, and the work of UK parking professionals and organisations on the international stage.

The Lifetime Achievement Award pays tribute to the career of a person who has committed themselves to the parking sector while the Parking Advocacy Award recognises a person or organisation with a talent for campaigning and communication.

The awards will see the presentation of the Inspiration Award, which recognises a person or organisation that has pushed thinking in parking forward.

The short list has been selected by a jury of 13 people chaired by Mark Moran, editor of Parking Review magazine.

One surprise was the judge’s decision not to draw up a short list for the Best Car Park Operation. The jury said: “In previous years the Car Park Operation Award has recognised teams working in a range of city centre, retail and park & ride locations who have raised the bar in terms of customer interaction, marketing, working with local businesses and communities.

“This year, none provided a compelling portrait of an operation that goes beyond the expected to deliver truly excellent service to their customers, clients and destination. The sites entered may be exemplary, but their submissions did not communicate exceptional achievement.”
