Coach operator National Express says that more than a third of bus stops prevent wheelchair users boarding and alighting its fleet of 550 accessible vehicles.

National Express coaches call at 1,200 bus stops across the country, but the company has revealed that 436 have so many obstacles – such as lamp-posts, bollards, railings, public seating or signs – which prevent drivers from deploying the lifts that enable wheelchair users to board.
