The misspellings and bad grammar of road sign-makers and painters is something that amuses news editors the world over. A conspicuous one was a road marking created at an NCP car park serving Cambridge’s main train station two years ago, which read “20 minuites max parking”.

Last month workmen arrived on site and finally corrected the error by painting the offending letter “i” with black paint.
