More than a third of blind and partially sighted people feel unable to leave their homes because of the poor state of Britain’s pavements, a report by charity Guide Dogs reveals. 

Some 63% of people with sight loss said they have tripped or stumbled on neglected pavements.

A Freedom of Information Act request revealed that that more than £46m was paid out in compensation for injuries over the last four years. Spending on pavement maintenance over the last four years has dropped...
