Some 50,000 bags of litter are dumped on the M25 and its link roads each year, according to figures released by the Conservatives.
The figures, from the Highways Agency, estimate that around 700,000 bin bags are collected from roads across the country every year. In the last year, the number of cases of litter dumping reported on the M25 area has gone up from 48 in 2007 to 90 so far this year, reports the Highways Agency.
