Newcastle revamps P&D machines

Flowbird terminals enable drivers to check-in and check-out at car parks

Newcastle City Council has upgraded payment machines at its two busiest car parks, enabling them to offer the ‘Check In Check Out’ scheme. Some 34 old pay & display machines at Eldon Square and Eldon Gardens have been replaced with 14 Flowbird S5 terminals.

The new machines feature the latest touchscreen technology, which is faster than previous units. The technology allows car parkers to pay with cash or card. Although cashless payments account for 75% of parking transactions...
