Modelling World 2018 on 6 June: bigger, better and back in Birmingham

25 January 2018

Modelling World is the UK & Europe's longest running, best-attended and biggest annual exhibition and conference for transport and pedestrian modelling professionals.  This must-attend annual fixture is the highlight of the modelling calendar and attracts more than 300 attendees each year.

The 13th Annual Modelling World Conference & Exhibition for data and modelling professionals will return to its roots in Birmingham on Wednesday 6 June at Edgbaston Cricket Ground. Edgbaston is ideally located in the hart of the UK's second city and is just minutes from major motorway links, Birmingham New Street & Snow Hill Stations.

The larger venue will accommodate more delegates and exhibitors and we look forward to hosting the biggest event in the 13-year series. We will also be going the extra mile to ensure that the range of speakers on the programme is as diverse as possible, both in gender and in age, representing a modelling sector that is developing and expanding in order to keep pace with change.

The event, which is once again sponsored by SYSTRA and PTV, will be preceded by a pre-event dinner at Edgbaston, at which Laura Shoaf, Managing Director, ‎Transport for West Midlands (TfWM) will be the keynote speaker.

The event will be followed by the 2018 The Masters of Modelling Awards, which rewards outstanding service in the data and modelling sectors for both experienced and incoming professionals. The New Master of Modelling Award, in particular, will recognise a young professional between the age of 20 – 35 that has shown willingness to challenge thinking and methodologies, developed new ways of thinking and driven practitioner thinking forward and inspired colleagues and the wider industry.

The 2018 programme will be expanded and will look at all aspects of modelling for wider policy objectives. Issues will include the modelling requirements of City Regions, an exploration of updated DfT WebTAG guidance, modelling clear air zones, cycle networks and bike share, delving into the nature and impact of disruption in the form of new train services opening, terrorism, public order incidents and emerging technologies and trends. We’ll also be looking at new forms of data visualisation and the ever-thorny issue of the role of modelling in decision-making.

Exhibitors to date includes Citilabs, Intelligent Data Collection, Mott MaxDonald, Tracsis, Aimsun, INRO, Transport Systems Catapult, Atkins & Legion. Exhibition space is selling out quickly, so book your place now by contacting Daniel  on daniel.simpson@landor.co.uk or calling 0207 091 7861
