Cost & delay fears for Bristol rail

RAIL

Plans to improve local rail services in Bristol and the surrounding area look likely to be hit by a cost rise and delay.

MetroWest phase one will see passenger services restored to the Portishead-Bristol line, and higher frequencies on the Severn Beach branch, and to Bath. The project has an estimated outturn cost of £58m, which is to be met from the area’s Local Growth Fund. Services are envisaged for launch in spring 2019.
