England’s shires prepare for combined authority status

Combined authorities with transport powers could be established across many of  England’s shires as part of devolution deals expected to be announced in the coming months. 

Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Portsmouth and Southampton are hopeful of a sign-off early in the New Year for a devolution deal that is likely to see a combined authority for the area established.
