More safety rules for capital’s lorries

London mayor Boris Johnson will consult in January on extending the requirements of the capital’s safer lorry scheme. The scheme came into effect on 1 September and requires vehicles above 3.5 tonnes to be fitted with sideguards and Class V and VI mirrors to reduce danger for cyclists and pedestrians.
