Fears are being voiced for the future of bus services and local road maintenance spending after Chancellor George Osborne announced the Treasury had reached agreement in principle with the DfT and Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) on a 30% cut to their resource budgets.
Osborne said resource spending by the departments (plus the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) would all be cut by an average of 8% a year for four years.
