Bus lanes should be 24-hour operations – no question

Nick Lester-Davis says that 24-hour bus lanes cause confusion (LTT 18 Sep). On the contrary, it is having bus lanes operative at different times that causes confusion. If drivers knew that they should always keep out of bus lanes they would know exactly where they stood. I can’t see the point of not having bus lanes normally operating 24 hours a day. If the road is busy the bus lane is needed for buses. If it is not there is no reason why other traffic should need to use it....
