Hammond tried to ‘get rid of cycling’

The former Conservative transport secretary Philip Hammond attempted to “get rid of cycling as a DfT function [because] he saw it as unimportant and trivial,” Julian Huppert, the former all party parliamentary group on cycling co-chair has claimed. Huppert, the former Liberal Democrat MP for Cambridge, made the remarks in an interview with the Cambridge Cycling Campaign.
