VEDreforms ‘bad for CO2 reduction’

The Government’s reform plans for Vehicle Excise Duty (VED) will weaken incentives to purchase low emission vehicles, say experts. VED will be reformed from 1 April 2017, with first year rates varying according to carbon dioxide emissions but a flat standard rate of £140 applying thereafter, except for zero emission vehicles that will pay nothing (LTT10 Jul).
