PTEG and TAS trade blows over bus QCs

Franchising cannot guarantee better bus services if the record of PTEs in running services during the 1970s and 1980s is a guide, according to a new report. 

TAS Publications & Events has published a review of PTE performance from 1974/75 to 1985/86, when bus fleets were owned and operated by the PTEs themselves. “Over the period, bus patronage in the PTE areas declined by 20%, as fleets were reduced by 29%, and over 6,800 jobs were cut,” says report author Steve Warburton....
