Network Rail study ‘underplayed case for Devon rail re-opening’

Network Rail’s study of creating a second rail route into Devon was far too limited in its scope, according to a new report commissioned by the Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE).

The 58-mile Exeter-Okehampton-Tavistock-Plymouth railway closed as a through route in 1968 but there is now pressure for it to be re-opened. The lobby gained momentum last year following the disruption to services caused by storms at Dawlish.
