The DfT has lost responsibility for off-street car parking policy in England, with the function being transferred to the Department for Communities and Local Government.
The Government says the change reflects the impact parking policies have on communities and fits well with the DCLG’s responsibilities for land use planning.
Just days after the change was announced, the DCLG published a discussion paper on tackling unfair practices in private off-street parking.
