Jim Murphy, Scottish Labour’s new leader, has pledged support for Glasgow Crossrail, a new line that would connect routes from the west and south of the city with those from the north and east. 

Murphy gave the project his endorsement in a speech on the future of Scottish local government in which he criticised the SNP administration in Holyrood, saying it was centralising powers and out of step with the emerging devolution agenda in England.
