York drops plans to cut bus routes

Councillors in York have thrown out plans to save £212,000 by cutting tendered bus services.

Councillors last February approved a plan to make £200,000 savings from the bus subsidy budget as part of the Labour-run council’s budget-setting process for 2015/16.

Officers this month recommended services to be withdrawn and others to be revised to deliver £212,000 savings. They also presented an option for increasing the level of cuts to £247,000.
